I began oil painting when I was fourteen years old by teaching myself with painting method books. My favorite subject to date typically reflects images of water. I hold a BFA in oil painting from the Allen R. Hite Art Institute at University of Louisville. I also studied at Vermont Studio School and Louisville School of Art. I am a founding member of Zephyr Gallery. Zephyr Gallery is a co-op gallery that started in 1987 and is still operating in Louisville, KY. I have received awards including the “Outstanding Creative Award” Jefferson Community College. The “Merit Award” University of Louisville, Juror Peter Morrin, Curator Director at J.B. Speed Art Museum. I have volunteered for assisting in a Computer Graphics Workshop at University of Louisville and the “Foundation Studies in Art.” Through the Visual Arts Network, I volunteered with the installation of Public Sculpture in the Galleria, 4th St in Louisville, Ky. I have paintings in both private and corporate collections including the J.B. Speed Art Museum. I have taught oil painting and drawing at Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning, University of Louisville. I have also taught drawing at Bellarmine University, School of Professional & Continuing Studies. I am presently teaching at the Metro Arts Center and at Lettersong located in Butchertown. I continue to share my skill and love of oil painting through groups and private lessons.
Beargrass Creek
I moved to Beargrass Creek in 2000. Being a visual artist, the light with its effects on the natural surroundings captured my curiosity to put these visions on a two dimensional surface. Exhibiting this part of Louisville shows the peaceful parts of this city ! I want to share these peaceful places. Take a visual walk through these paintings of Beargrass Creek and experience the pleasures of light in nature!
